July 6th, 2010As Seen On TV!
February 5th, 2010Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..”, comes from a line in section 1.10.32. The standard chunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation by H. Rackham.Special screening and Q+A with director Ash Bhalla.

The venue is : Westbourne Studios 242 Acklam Road London W10 5JJ UK If you manage to get there, let me know how it goes! Unfortunately, they are not sending me a ticket to London!

Creative Producer, The Rake
January 4th, 2010I would like to welcome Shandor Garrison as the Creative Producer on The Rake.
Shandor is my classmate at NYU and a very talented filmmaker; he has a great personal energy and charisma — characteristics which I hold to be essential in this undertaking. I will be working with him day-by-day on the artistic elements — script, casting, etc. — as well as the practical aspects of the project — e.g. locations, insurance, shooting schedule. Essentially he is a troubleshooter, and an exceptionally capable one at that.
Like all of you, Shandor has shown an interest in, and a commitment to this project, and I am fortunate to have his calm, logical and creative mind applied to the challenges of the filmmaking process.
As always, more news to come…
Ash
